A great way for students to be able to express their feelings and the problem without interrupting the teacher.

A way for students to know if the papers are left at home, or if they should come right back to school.

Placement 1:

While observing on a early release day, the students and teachers were going crazy! Students were very talkative, while teachers were trying to figure everything out with their schedule. My cooperating teacher was a little stressed out because the office was not communicating very well. On top of early release day- they also were doing a code red drill. Students were at specials while they called the code red and my teacher didn't know what she was suppose to do.

Each student has a take home folder. Mrs Absher draws a smiley face at the beginning of the day. If the student gets in trouble she whites out the smiley and writes what the student did wrong. The parents sign the form and the students return it every morning. This is a way for to communicate with the parents.

Mrs. Absher always recognizes students when they are doing something good and following direction. She doesn't just say "Good Job", she explains to them what they are actually doing that is so "good". That way the student knows what he/she did right. She also handles misbehavior well. She always takes care of the problem right there. She would pull the students aside and talk to them and ask them what the problem was, then she would solve the situation.

Placement 2:
Being a Resource/Co-teacher involves communication. My cooperating teacher usually meets once a month with her students homeroom teacher. They discuss behavior problems, strengths, weakness, and they come up with a solution they think would work best.

With meetings- My cooperating teacher trys to attend the parent-teacher conference. If she has two at once, she chooses the one she feels would be necessary.

The communication between my cooperating teacher and the students could use some improvement. On Friday's, students do a bully program in their homeroom classroom. After it being halfway through the school year, students will still come to her in the morning and she has to send them back. Also, some students will forget to come at the right time, so my teacher has to call their homeroom teacher and ask them to send the student.

Whenever my teacher needs to talk to an individual student, she will usually ask the individual to stay after class. Usually she will ask them to stay after class when their behavior is unacceptable. She will just ask the student what's going on? Why are you acting this way? The student usually responds, "I don't know?" and she usually just says, "Well we need to fix it" or "We need to work on it".

Some students come from the same room, but they don't usually wait on each other. Sometimes one student will come in ten minutes later, and they are coming from the same homeroom.
